VM deployment

To begin setting up Mividas Proxy, add the Mividas Proxy virtual machine to your server network. The ideal location for the server depends on your network environment. Refer to the Network Schematics section for examples and detailed network configurations.

Before you proceed, please review the Server Specifications for the Mividas VM and the Network Port Requirements to ensure compatibility.

Download the Mividas Proxy VM

Begin by downloading our Mividas Proxy VM, provided in a generic OVA format compatible with VMware ESXi (version 6.5 and later) and KVM for Linux-based virtualization. The latest version is always available at https://www.mividas.com/downloads/.

Deploy the Mividas Proxy VM

Start by deploying the OVA file you just downloaded in your virtualization environment. Please review the Server Specifications before you deploy the Mividas Proxy VM.

Initial Startup and Network Configuration

On the initial startup, you’ll be presented with a list of network setup options you can navigate using the arrow keys. Below are the configuration options:

Option	Description
Refresh Status	Check the machine’s current status, including assigned IP addresses, disk usage, and space.
Change Hostname for Server	Specify a hostname for the installer, e.g. `proxy.example.com`.
Change IP Settings on first NIC	Configure DHCP or manually enter IP settings (e.g., gateway, DNS) for the primary NIC.
Change IP Settings on second NIC (optional)	Configure DHCP or manually enter IP settings (e.g., gateway, DNS) for the secondary NIC.
Set DNS-Servers	Set a DNS server if you require an override or additional DNS settings.
Set NTP-Servers	Specify NTP servers.
Set HTTP-Proxy	Configure an HTTP proxy to manage and filter outgoing traffic if network security policies restrict direct access.
Set Static Routes	Define static routes for specific subnets to route traffic as needed across multiple network segments. For instance, you can route traffic for subnet `10.0.0.0/24` through a specific router at `192.168.1.100`, while all other traffic uses the default gateway.
Continue	Choose this when you are ready to proceed.

Option	Description
Set Admin Password	Set the password for the admin system account.
Disable SSH Password Login	Strengthen security by disabling password-based SSH login, using SSH keys by default.
Disable Boot Console Wizard Changes	This option restricts access to the boot console wizard for added security.
Continue	Choose this when you are ready to proceed.

When you’ve completed the security configuration, select Continue to finish the setup. If changes were made that require a restart, restart the machine now.

Configuring Mividas Proxy

After the Mividas Proxy have been restarted, proceed with selecting Configure proxy from the menu.

Option	Description
Hostname/FQDN	Enter the FQDN of the Mividas Rooms server this Mividas Proxy should connect to. E.g. `rooms.example.com`.
Name of proxy	Enter a name for this Mividas Proxy.
Verify TLS	Choose if you want to validate the SSL connection between Mividas Proxy and Mividas Rooms for the initial handshake. NOTE: Additional Root CA-certificates configured in Mividas Rooms will be applied when this proxy is approved.
Enter overridden IP
Enter proxy password	Enter the passwords used for Mividas Proxy to verify against Mividas Rooms. The password can be changed and found at `Mividas Rooms > Admin > Settings > Security`.

The configuration is now complete, and the services will restart. Complete the installation by approving the Mividas Proxy in Mividas Rooms.

Option	Description
Update server status	Update the current status view.
Display live proxy logs	Display live logs from Mividas Proxy for troubleshooting.
Login shell	Open a terminal shell for direct VM access.
Proxy settings	Reaccess the Proxy settings if needed.
Network settings	Reaccess the Network settings if needed.
Security settings	Reaccess the Security settings if needed.
Hard drive cleanup	Remove unnecessary data, debug logs, and old versions to free up space.
